The term “Sigma” is ubiquitous. We see it everywhere represented in a variety of forms, but we seldom realize what it means.
In latin, “sigma” literally translates into “the sum of all parts”. That phrase resonates clearly with endurance athletes. To be balanced, prepared, to be whole, we take steps to provide ourselves with every possible advantage knowing fully that the sum of our training will equal our performance. That is why, when it comes to our seasonal training, we cut no corners and leave no possible idea unexplored if we are under the slightest impression that it will benefit us when we need it most.
This very position is the cornerstone of what makes Sigma Human Performance unique. Sigma has originated from the desire to want more out of training, to support anyone’s need for something better, and to bring to the forefront scientific information that would otherwise not be accessible outside of a clinical setting. Sigma’s philosophy of “Metabolic Fitness” was the conception of Sigma’s founder, Benjamin Stone, while lecturing at the University of Oxford, UK. His vision was founded by the assertion that training direction should be determined by the collection of data from an athlete’s individual metabolism and nutrition rather than the ability to maintain a speed or wattage for a certain duration. By excluding these antiquated methods, Sigma is able to not only assess current potential, but also possesses the ability to focus on improving overall metabolic efficiency, which is the hallmark of any anyone possessing a high level of fitness.
Sigma strives to provide the most direct pathway towards achieving your endurance goals, sets the standard in the collection of data only available in university and medical settings, and delivers your training in a manner than is both understandable and applicable to athletes of any nature. Upon first glance you might think that only elite athletes would fully realize the potential that Sigma can offer, but you would be wrong. We are here for everyone regardless of ability or goal.
